Toyota News: 2011 Tacoma gets minor upgrades, starts at $16,365

The Tacoma pickup from Toyota will have a new model this year that will be packed with new features and will also have the lineup revised. For the 2011 lineup, the Japanese carmaker is discontinuing 3 models with manual transmission and adding 5 models with 4-cylinder engines coupled with 4-speed automatic transmission. The new lineup includes the 4×4 Access Cab, 4×4 Regular Cab, Double Cab PreRunner 4×2, 4×2 Double Ca, Access Cab PreRunner 4×2.

The new features for the 2011 Tacoma will include a new grille design for the X-Runner, TRD Sport, TRD, Off-Road, the SR5, and the Base. The Regular Cab units will come with air conditioning as standard while the 4×2 versions will be getting 15-inch steel rims.

The Tacoma models enjoying the 6-disc CD changer will not come with a satellite radio that will be on a subscription basis. The Double Cab will get cruise control, keyless entry, audio controls on the steering wheel, and sliding rear privacy glass.

The pickup will be coming out with two engine options. There will be the 159 horsepower 2.7L engine that also has a peak torque of 180 lb-ft, and the V6 4.0L that gives out 236 hp and torque of 266 lb-ft.

Exclusive of shipping and handling, the base price for the 2011 Tacoma will be at $16,365 for the 4×2 Regular Cab with a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission. The 4×4 Double Cab that runs with a V6 4.0L has a sticker price of $27, 525.

The new Tacomas will be hitting the US shore before the end of July.

Hyundai extends and expands Assurance program for 2010

This year, Hyundai won several different awards for it’s marketing efforts and I can tell you that Hyundai is certainly centering their efforts on the customer more than anything – hence the reason for the Hyundai Assurance Program. If you are not familiar with this particular program, that is what we are going to talk about below.

The Hyundai Assurance Program is a program that allows Hyundai to take back the car if the customer lost their job. With all of the lay-offs that have been happening nowadays, I can tell you that this program really helped and now Hyundai is extending it through 2010.

Personally, I think that Hyundai is the best company to purchase your car from – not only is the product incredible, but the assurance program really makes sure that you can return the car if your lose your income.

J.D. Power predicts October car sales will be down just 6%

It is almost Halloween and you know what that means? Well, it means that not only do you get to dress up, but it actually marks the end of the month as well and we all know what that means – the end of a period usually.

October might not actually look as bad as many people thought it would for car sales, however according to J.D. Power, the industry that forecasts for pretty much anything sees that October sales are actually down just about 6%.

From what I originally thought, this is actually really good – however, this is the first time in about 17 months that sales have been under the double digits, which is really good isn’t it?

American Cars: They Are Making A Come Back!

The reason why the automotive world for America has gone downhill is because American cars … in a lot of people’s minds have gone downhill with no recover. Well ladies and gentlemen, Autoblog.com has done a poll and well – 80% of people actually said that they would consider purchasing an American car whereas less than 50% said they would consider purchasing an Asian or European car.

However, that does not mean that all American cars are created equally, confidence right now is all in Ford. Most people have switched the gears in their head and have changed the direction of their choice back to Ford, where as lately, it seems that Ford is not a brand to be trusted.

Personally, I like any kind of car, as long as it runs, however Ford is certainly ranking up there, slowly but surely!

Driving In The Right Lane — Law or No Law?

Now – my in laws are from WV, however they live in NY – I’m from MI … now that you know my entire life story; there is a point to it. My in laws and I have been arguing for months about the fact that there is nothing set in stone and no law that prevents you from driving in the left hand lane … which is the lane that I drive all of the time – of course.

While I know that the left lane is the passing lane … I like driving in that lane because I do not get stuck behind any of the people that are going super slow! However, Kansas recently passed a law that forbids anyone from driving in the left-hand lane and you strictly drive in it in order to pass and then merge over to the right.

To me? That is stupid and I will probably still drive in the left lane even if I am in Kansas, however … if you want to obey the law, stay out of the left lane!
