The problem: a car from a well known manufacturer that was originally as boring as watching paint dry while the grass grows and as staid as an old time spinster who spends Sundays crocheting appliance cozies so the toaster won’t be naked any longer.
The solution: a “jazzy,” geometric black and white paint job, presumably to make the kiddies more excited and to make the adults think they are really edgy and cool because their fuel efficient automobile looks edgy and cool.
The question: can a new paint job really spruce up an old dud?
One person’s opinion: it would appear so. This is the 2011 Chevrolet Viva — maybe. It’s actually the Aveo but they might be changing the name to Viva, they just aren’t sure yet.
Still, having recognized that the Aveo left something to be desired in the way of styling, Chevrolet is trying to do some damage control. Both inside and outside, the 2011 edition promises to actually be edgy and will be larger than its forebear. The real question on most consumers’ minds is whether or not the fuel efficiency will remain … and whether or not they want to be seen with that paint job.
