Do you have an extra $45,660 lying around the house? Oh, sure, we all do, that is just chump change for the most of us and — okay, okay, that joke is already worn out.
The real point is, that is the cost of the new Mitsubishi i-MiEV, an innovative electric pod car which will be available in Japan at the end of July. The announcement started something of an electric car war, with Subaru announcing that the Stella, its very own electric car, would be going on sale soon as well. However, in contrast to the i-MiEV, the Stella will cost nearly fifty thousand dollars — $49,255.
Both companies tend to make the Japanese domestic market their target market. There, buyers who are able to qualify may receive government subsidies which equal out to over fourteen thousand dollars.
